When dates in a worksheet aren't in the order you want, you can sort them. For example, you can sort them from oldest on top to newest on top.

Unsorted dates in a worksheet

Here's how to sort unsorted dates:

  1. Drag down the column to select the dates you want to sort.

  2. Click Home tab > arrow under Sort & Filter, and then click Sort Oldest to Newest, or Sort Newest to Oldest.

The Sort & Filter button on the Home tab

Note:  If the results aren't what you expected, the column might have dates that are stored as text instead of dates. Convert dates stored as text to dates shows you what to do when this happens in your worksheet.
