After you put together your Lync Phone Edition IP desk phone, sign in to get started. Lync Phone Edition lets you use your phone to make and manage calls, view Lync contact and presence information, change your status, join Lync Meetings, and more.
Note: For details about how to assemble and use your phone running Lync Phone Edition, see the user guide that came with your phone or the manufacturer’s website. Website links are provided in the section “Supported IP desk phones,” later in this topic. If you find you need additional details, contact the manufacturer.

Sign in by using a USB cable

Make sure you’re signed in to Lync on your computer. (Start >All Programs > Microsoft Lync > Lync 2013 >Sign in).

Connect the USB cable from your phone to your computer.

On your computer, when prompted, type in your user name and password. Enter your user name as follows:

If you use Microsoft 365, type your user name as username@domain.com. For example, bobk@contoso.com

If you use a corporate Lync account, type your user name as domain\username. For example, contoso\bobk.
The phone begins the sign-in process.

Sign in by using a PIN
Important: Microsoft 365 users cannot sign in via a PIN, and neither can Polycom CX700 users. See the other sections for sign-in details that apply to you.

If you have your sign-in PIN, skip to Step 3. If you don’t, do one of the following:
Note: Your sign-in PIN is not the same as the PIN you use to unlock your phone, which you set up during the desk phone setup process.

Open a Lync Meeting request in Microsoft Outlook, and click the Forgot your dial-in PIN? link in the body of the meeting request.

Open the Dial-in Conferencing Settings and PIN Management webpage that your workplace technical support provided. The web address should look something like this: https://im.contoso.com/dialin.

On the Dial-in Conferencing Settings and PIN Management webpage, under Personal Identification Number (PIN), click Sign In, click Sign In again, and then create or reset your PIN.

On your phone, on the Welcome screen, select No.

Enter your phone number or extension, and then select Next.

Enter your PIN, and then select Sign In.
Sign-in directly to your phone
Important: Only Polycom CX700 users can sign in directly to their phone.

When your phone tells you that a connection has been detected, on your computer, type in your user name and password. Enter your user name as follows:

If you use Microsoft 365, type your user name as username@domain.com. For example, bobk@contoso.com

If you use a corporate Lync account, type your user name as domain\username. For example, contoso\bobk.
