Improvements are coming to Outlook.com; in fact, some customers are already enjoying the new Outlook.com experience. How you share your calendar depends on whether you've been upgraded to the new experience. For sharing instructions, select the link below that matches your mailbox.

Important: Calendar sharing will be unavailable during the upgrade. For more information, see Use Publish calendar during the upgrade.

You can either create a permission list and specify access levels to share your calendar with people you choose or you can give anyone a link that will give them view-only access to your calendar:

Share with people you choose
  1. In Calendar, click Share, and then click the name of the calendar you want to share.

  2. Click Share with people you choose.

  3. Click the To box and enter the email address for someone you want to share with.

  4. Repeat Step 3 to add any other people with whom you want to share the same level of access.

  5. Select the level of access from the dropdown.

  6. Click Share.

Get a link
  1. In Calendar, click Share, and then click the name of the calendar you want to share.

  2. Click Get a link.

  3. Choose Show event details or Show free/busy time. Click Create under the type you want.

Each set of links allows people to access your calendar three different ways:

  • View in a web browser (HTML)

  • Import into other calendar apps (ICS)

  • View in a feed reader (XML)

  1. On the Calendar navigation bar, click Share, and then click the name of the calendar you want to share.

    Click Share

  2. Under Share this calendar, enter the email address or contact name of the person you want to share your calendar with.

  3. Click the down arrow and choose how you want this person to use your calendar.

Give permissions to your shared calendar

  4. Click Share.

During the account upgrade, sharing will be unavailable. If you’ve shared a calendar prior to the upgrade, it will temporarily be converted to an ICS subscription and you won’t be able to change sharing relationships or update shared calendar permissions. Follow these instructions to create an ICS subscription link.

  1. On the Outlook Calendar navigation bar, click Settings Click Settings > Options.

  2. Under Options in the left pane, under Calendar, click Publish calendar.

    Publish calendar

  3. Under Publish calendar, select a calendar and create a link to show availability only or to show availability, titles, and locations.

  4. Send the ICS subscription link to the person you want to share your calendar with.
