PowerPoint for macOS has several options for playing presentations.

For example, you can set up a continuously looping presentation that runs on its own in a kiosk. You can turn off narration or animations, and choose specific slides you do and don't want to show.

Show type

Select from the options in the Show type section to specify how you want to show your presentation to your audience.

  • To deliver your presentation before a live audience, choose Presented by a speaker (full screen).

  • To let a single person view your presentation on a device, choose Browsed by an individual (window).

  • To deliver a self-running presentation that runs at a kiosk, choose Browsed at a kiosk (full screen). For more information, see Create a self-running presentation.

Show options

Select from the options in the Show options section to specify how you want sound files, narrations, or animations to run in your presentation.

  • To show a presentation repeatedly, select the Loop continuously until 'Esc' check box. (With this option, the presentation runs until you press the Esc key on the keyboard.)

  • To show a presentation without playing an embedded narration, select the Show without narration check box. (To add narration to a slide, on the Insert tab of the ribbon, click Audio > Record Audio.)

  • To show a presentation without playing an embedded animation, select the Show without animation check box. (To add animation to a slide, use the Animations tab on the ribbon.)

Show slides

Use the options in the Slides section to specify which slides are available in a presentation or to create a custom show.

  • To advance to each slide manually during your presentation, click Manually.

  • To use slide timings to advance to each slide automatically during your presentation, click Using timings, if present. (Timings can be set up on the Transitions tab of ribbon. Select the After check box and then choose a duration.)

  • To show all slides in your presentation, choose All.

  • To show a specific, successive group of slides from your presentation, enter the first slide number that you want to show in the From box, and enter the last slide number that you want to show in the To box.

  • To show a custom version of your presentation (such as showing some slides, but not others), that you have already set up, choose Custom show and select the name of the show.

To create a custom show

  1. In the presentation that you want to customize, choose the Slide Show tab on the ribbon, and click Custom Show > Custom Slide Show.

  2. In the Custom Shows dialog box, click the + to define the sequence of your custom show.

  3. In the Define Custom Show dialog box, assign a distinct name to your custom show

  4. In the Slides in presentation box, select the first slide you want to add to your custom show, then click Add. Repeat this step for any other slides you want to include in your custom show.

In the Slides in custom show box, you can rearrange the order of the slides. Choose the slide you want to move, and then click the up or down arrow found just below the Slides in custom show box. Similarly, you can remove a slide from this box by selecting the slide and clicking the minus sign found at the bottom left of the Slides in custom show box.
