Set options and use features in Business Contact Manager (the Backstage view)

Many of the settings and some features of Business Contact Manager for Outlook are accessible from the Backstage view.

In the Backstage view, you can perform tasks such as importing and exporting your business data, backing up and restoring a database, customizing forms, and sharing your database.

Access Business Contact Manager options and features in the Backstage view

To display options and features in the Backstage view, do the following:

  1. Click the File tab.

  1. Click the Business Contact Manager tab.

Use to make a back up copy of your database or to restore a copy of your database.

Customize button

Customize

Use to do the following:

  • Create record types that are unique for your business.

  • Change the layout of forms by adding, removing, or moving fields.

  • Change the items that are available in a list.

  • Edit sales stages and activities, usually on Opportunity records.

  • Change scoring criteria, usually used to qualify Leads.

Link and Track E-mail Messages

Use to select the e-mail addresses that you want to automatically track communication with.

Business Contact Synchronization button

Business Contact Synchronization

Use to set up access of Business Contacts on your mobile phone, or by using Outlook Web access.

Manage Databases button

Manage Databases

Use to switch to a different database or to delete obsolete databases.

Note: *To use these features, you must be the owner of the Business Contact Manager database or an administrator on the computer.
If you are logged as the administrator on a computer that is running Windows Vista, you must also run Outlook as an administrator. In the Taskbar, in the Quick Launch section, right-click Microsoft Outlook, and then click Run as administrator.
