Report Designer user interface layout in Management Reporter

The Report Designer user interface consists of the following areas:

  • Menu bar

    The menu bar contains commands for using Microsoft Office PerformancePoint 2007 Management Reporter. For information about these commands, see Report Designer menu commands.

  • Toolbars

    The toolbars contain shortcuts to the most common commands for designing and generating reports. You can show or hide any of the toolbars. For information about the toolbar buttons, see Report Designer toolbar buttons.

  • Navigation pane

    The navigation pane displays the building blocks of the selected type and contains buttons for selecting a different type of building block. For each type, you can organize the building blocks into one level of folders. You can show the buttons as wide, labeled bands, as one row of icons, or as a combination of bands and icons. You can resize the navigation pane, and you can show or hide the navigation pane.

    For Management Reporter administrators, the navigation pane also contains the Security button.

  • View pane

    The view pane contains the building blocks that you open for defining and generating reports. You can arrange multiple building blocks to be visible within the view pane, in which case the menu bar and toolbars adjust to show the functionality that applies to the building block that has focus.
