The Peak fields contain the maximum percentage or number of units for which a resource is assigned at any one time for tasks.

There are two categories of Peak fields.

Data Type    Percentage/number

Peak (resource field)

Entry Type    Calculated

How Calculated    The value in the Peak field is the maximum assignment unit for a resource at any one point in time for all tasks to which the resource is assigned.

Best Uses    Add the Peak field to a resource sheet view when you want to display the maximum percent of effort at which a resource is working across the entire project for any assigned tasks.

Example    Jamie is assigned to one task at 25 percent, and to another task scheduled for a different time period at 50 percent. In the Resource Sheet view, the value in the Peak field for Jamie is 50 percent.

Remarks    When displaying peak units in the Resource Graph or Resource Usage view, the value in the Peak field corresponds to the highest point shown on the Resource Graph.

Peak (assignment field)

Entry Type    Calculated

How Calculated    The value in the Peak field is the maximum number of units that a resource is assigned for a task.

Best Uses    Add the Peak field to the sheet portion of the Resource Usage view when you want to display or filter the maximum number of units for an assignment. This field is available only in the Resource Usage view.

Example    You need to review the resource capacity for various assignments. In the sheet portion of the Resource Usage view, you add the Peak field. For an assignment for three carpenters, you see 300 percent in the Peak field, meaning that the maximum number of units to which the carpenter resource is assigned throughout the entire task is 300 percent. For an assignment to a part-time resource, you see 25 percent in the Peak field.
