Offline Settings: Synchronization settings in Business Contact Manager

On the Synchronization tab, in the Offline Settings dialog box, you can manage the settings for how often the local copy of the shared database is synchronized, and what to do when the shared database on the remote computer is not available.

  • In the When online section, you can set the interval for how frequently to synchronize with the shared database while you are working in your local copy.

Note:  Synchronizing many changes over a slow connection may reduce the efficiency of your local database, so you may choose to increase the interval.

  • In the When connection to the shared database is not available section, select one of the following to set the option when you are notified that you cannot connect to the shared database.

    • Switch automatically to my local database      Select this option to automatically work in the offline database when the connection to the shared database is lost.

    • Don't switch automatically. I will switch manually      Click this option to manually switch to working in the offline database when the connection to the shared database is lost.

Note: To switch manually, on the Business Contact Manager toolbar, click Status, and then click Work Offline.

Note: This form appears when you are managing the way you work in a local database, which is a copy of a shared database on a remote computer. To access this form, on the Business Contact Manager menu, point to Offline, and click Offline Settings.
