Office Communications Server 2007 Users

Although you must use Office Communications Server 2007 Administrative Tools to manage Office Communications Server 2007 servers, you can use Office Communications Server 2007 R2 to perform some management tasks of Office Communications Server 2007 users. You can use Office Communications Server 2007 R2 to do the following:

  • Delete users. Delete user information from Office Communications Server 2007.

  • Find user. Locate an Office Communications Server 2007 user or set of users in the pool.

  • Move users. Change user pool assignment.

Important: Configure users is activated so that the Configure Users Wizard can be run for Office Communications Server 2007 users using Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Administrative Tools. However, none of the changes will be applied to user properties.

When you perform these actions on the Users item in the console tree, the actions apply to all users in the pool. To perform these actions on an individual user, right-click the user in the details pane.

You can also use Office Communications Server 2007 R2 to view an Office Communications Server 2007 user's main property page, but not to see advanced user settings or to change any user properties.

Delete users

You can delete all information for all users in a pool from the Office Communications Server 2007 back-end database. The users that you delete from Office Communications Server 2007 are not removed from Active Directory.

Find user

You can search for a user in a pool by specifying the user's partial or full Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Uniform Resource Identifier (URI). Wildcards are allowed in a SIP URI search. You can also search for a user or a set of users by selecting from a number of advanced configuration settings that the desired user's properties include.

Move users

You can move all users from one pool to another. It is recommended that you move users if you will be removing the server or pool on which the users are hosted from the Office Communications Server environment.

Note: When you move users from Office Communications Server 2007 R2 to Office Communications Server 2007, some user data is lost because Office Communications Server 2007 does not support the same features that Office Communications Server 2007 R2 supports.
