Add a draft watermark

You can mark a document's status as Draft by placing a watermark behind the text.

  1. Click View > Print Layout.

  2. On the Design tab, click Watermark.

  3. Under Disclaimers, click Draft 1.

Add a picture as a watermark

Adding a picture as a watermark is a great way to brand your document with a logo or just make it look nice.

  1. Click View > Print Layout.

  2. On the Design tab, click Watermark.

  3. Click Custom Watermark.

  4. In the Watermark dialog box, select Picture watermark > Select Picture, and then navigate to the picture you'd like to use as a watermark.

  5. Next to Scale, select Auto.

  6. Make sure the Washout check box is selected and click Apply.

You can create a custom watermark if you have a specific design in mind.

  1. Click View > Print Layout.

  2. On the Design tab, click Watermark.

  3. Click Custom Watermark.

  4. In the Watermark dialog box, select Picture watermark or Text watermark.

  5. Select a picture or add custom text, font, size, color, and layout, and click Apply.

Note: The Watermark dialog dox gives you several words to choose from but you can add your own in the Text Field if you'd like.
