How is Outlook Groups different from Outlook Mail on my phone?

The Outlook Groups mobile app enables you to create groups, discover and join groups, and send and receive messages with group members. Outlook Mobile enables you to read and respond to emails sent to your Inbox. These include messages sent from any groups you are subscribed to.

The Outlook Groups mobile app uses the Office 365 Groups service to enable group communication. With the app you can:

  • Stay on top of your group email, group files, and calendar appointments for groups you're part of

  • Quickly start a new post directed to the group, reply to the group, @mention a person or group, and "like" messages

  • View group files and work together with your group on Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote)

  • Receive notifications when someone responds and likes your messages

  • Discover and join new groups

None of these Office 365 Groups capabilities are available when you interact with group messages in Outlook Mobile.
