How do I merge my personal OneDrive with my work or school OneDrive?

Personal OneDrive accounts and Office 365 work or school accounts cannot be merged, but they can be used side by side.

Select from the options below for the best way to use personal and work or school account together.

You can use OneDrive to sync both your work or school files and personal files to your computer. 

You can't sync or share your work or school folders to your OneDrive personal folders, but you can ​​copy or drag and drop files from one to another.

  1. Download and install the OneDrive sync client on your personal computer.

  2. Sign in with your work or school account.

  3. Once sync has completed, select More > Settings.

  4. In Settings, select Account, and then select Add an account.

  5. When OneDrive Setup starts, enter your personal account, and then select Sign in.

    Tip: Don't have a personal OneDrive account? You might be surprised! Try signing in with your Xbox, Hotmail, Skype or Outlook.com credentials.

Tips: 

  • Your personal and work or school OneDrive storage allowances remain separate.

  • You can also use this approach to add your personal OneDrive to an existing OneDrive for Business account.

If you want to use a new email address with your existing Outlook.com account, follow the instructions in this article to create an alias. This will give you an additional email address which uses the same inbox, contact list, and account settings as your primary email address. You can choose which email address to send mail from, and you can sign in to your Outlook.com account with any of your aliases—they all use the same password.

Tips: 

  • You cannot add an alias that is already associated with another Microsoft account. 

  • You can't add an email address that's already associated with a work or school account as an alias. See below for more details.

  • An alias or email address can only contain letters, numbers, dot (.), underscore (_) or dash/hyphen (-). Spaces and other special characters are not allowed.
