Highlight text in OneNote Online

If you like highlighting meaningful passages in traditional paper notebooks, you can use the highlighter tool in OneNote Online in a similar way.

  1. Select the text you want to highlight.

  2. On the Home tab, click the arrow next to the Text Highlight Color button, and then click the highlight color you want.

  3. Select any additional text in your notes and click the Text Highlight Color button to apply the most recently used color to it.

Change the highlight color

You can change the highlight color of text in your notes at any time.

  1. Select the highlighting you want to change.

  2. On the Home tab, click the arrow next to the Text Highlight Color button, and then click a different highlight color.

  3. Select any additional highlighting you want to change, and then click the Text Highlight Color button.

Remove highlighting

If you don’t want something highlighted anymore, you can remove the highlighting.

  1. Select the highlighted text.

  2. On the Home tab, click the arrow next to the Text Highlight Color button and click No Color.

To quickly remove all highlighting of any color (or combination of colors) from a paragraph of notes, select the entire paragraph, click the arrow next to the Text Highlight Color button, and then click No Color.
