Signing in to Skype for Business (Lync) for the first time

Important:  If you haven’t used Skype for Business (Lync) on your desktop computer and this is the first time you’re using Skype for Business (Lync), you need to have a Skype for Business (Lync) account created and a sign-in address. If you don’t know this information, contact your technical support team. You cannot create a new Skype for Business (Lync) account from the Skype for Business (Lync) app on the Windows Phone.

The first time you sign in to Skype for Business (Lync) on your Windows Phone, here’s what you’ll need to do:

  1. Start Skype for Business (Lync) by tapping the Skype for Business (Lync) app icon.

  2. Now you’ll see a note explaining that in order to sign in, you need a Skype for Business (Lync) account and your IT administrator must turn on Skype for Business (Lync) for Mobile. To confirm that these are in place, tap I Agree.

  3. Enter your sign-in address (name@domain.com) and your password. (In some instances your user name will be provided in the More Details area.)

When Skype for Business (Lync) cannot use the Wi-Fi or cellular data network to make an audio or video call, Skype for Business (Lync) will call you back at this number to connect you to the audio portion of the Skype for Business (Lync) call. When you’ve finished entering your number, tap the Next arrow icon.

  6. The next screen displays the Push notifications setting on your phone, which alerts you when you get a new IM or a VoIP call. This setting is on by default. To turn it off, swipe the corresponding button to the left.

  7. Click the Next arrow icon to start using Skype for Business (Lync).
