Format Override in Management Reporter

The Format Override cell specifies the exact print format for the row. This amount format overrides the formatting that is specified in the column definition and the report definition.

To use the Format Override, do the following:

  1. Double-click a Format Override cell in an amount row of a row definition.

  2. In the Format Override dialog box, select the formatting options.

You can use the Format Override dialog box to select the formatting for the numbers in a column of a report. The available options depend on the format category. The Sample area displays examples of the current formatting selections.

The available format categories are as follows:

Currency

Numeric

Percentage

Custom

Currency

Currency formatting applies to a fiscal amount. It includes the currency symbol. The available options are as follows:

  • Currency symbol: The currency symbol for the report. This value overrides the Regional Options setting for the entity information.

  • Negative numbers: Negative numbers can be displayed with the minus sign (-) or in parentheses ( ).

  • Decimal places: The number of digits to show after the decimal point.

  • Zero value override text: The text to include in the report when the amount is zero. This text appears as the last line in the Sample area.

    Note: If printing is suppressed for zero values, this text is also suppressed.

Numeric

Numeric formatting applies to any amount and does not include a currency symbol. The available options are as follows:

  • Negative numbers: Negative numbers can be displayed with the minus sign (-) or in parentheses ( ).

  • Decimal places: The number of digits to show after the decimal point.

  • Zero value override text: The text to include in the report when the amount is zero. This text appears as the last line in the Sample area.

    Note: If printing is suppressed for zero values, this text is also suppressed.

Percentage

Percentage formatting includes the percent sign (%). The available options are as follows:

  • Negative numbers: Negative numbers can be displayed with the minus sign (-) or in parentheses ( ).

  • Decimal places: The number of digits to show after the decimal point.

  • Zero value override text: The text to include in the report when the amount is zero. This text appears as the last line in the Sample area.

    Note: If printing is suppressed for zero values, this text is also suppressed.

Custom

Use the custom format category to create a custom format override. The available options are as follows:

  • Type: The custom format.

  • Zero value override text: The text to include in the report when the amount is zero. This text appears as the last line in the Sample area.
