Error code 0-3 when installing Office

You might see error code 0-3 if a previous installation of Office failed.

Running an Online Repair of Office might fix the problem. If that doesn’t work, remove Office with the Fix it tool, and then reinstall Office.

Run an Online Repair of Office

  1. Close the error message.

  2. Open Control Panel.

  3. Go to Programs and Features.

  4. In the list of installed programs, click the latest version of Office, and click Change.

  5. Click Online Repair, and then click Repair.

If the repair doesn’t work, the next step is to use the Fix it tool to completely remove Office, and then reinstall.

Remove and reinstall Office

  1. Click this Fix it.

  2. At the bottom of your browser screen, click Open.

  3. After the Fix it tool is done, install Office again:

    If you’re a home user, sign in to your account page and click Install.

    If you’re a business user, sign in to the Office 365 portal and click Install.
