Your Lync Phone Edition IP desk phone has a feature called Remote Log Access. If you have issues with your phone, enable this feature—when you enable it, your phone collects logs that you can submit to Microsoft Help and Support for analysis and troubleshooting assistance.

Enable Remote Log Access on an Aastra 6725ip desk phone, HP 4120 IP Phone (desk phone), or Polycom CX600 IP desk phone

  1. On your phone, on the Home screen, select Menu.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • If you are signed in on your phone, select Settings, and then select Remote Log Access.

    • If you are not signed in, select Remote Log Access.

  3. Select OK, and then select Yes.

Note:  Remote Log Access stays enabled for 48 hours. You can disable the feature at any time, by repeating the preceding steps.

Enable Remote Log Access on a Polycom CX700 IP desk phone

  1. On your phone, tap Advanced.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • If you are signed in on your phone, tap Settings, and then tap Remote Log Access.

    • If you are not signed in, tap Remote Log Access.

  3. Tap Enable, and then tap Yes.

Note:  Remote Log Access stays enabled for 48 hours. You can disable the feature at any time, by repeating Steps 1 and 2 from the previous procedure, tapping Disable, and then tapping Yes.

Submit to Microsoft

Microsoft Help and Support will provide directions for locating the log files on your phone and submitting them for analysis. Note that the files can be read only via a conversion tool available at Microsoft Help and Support.

Before you contact Microsoft, find your phone’s IP address.

  1. Do one of the following:

    • On an Aastra 6725ip, HP 4120, or Polycom CX600, on the Home screen, select Menu, and then select System Information.

    • On a Polycom CX700, tap Advanced, and then tap System Information.

  2. Jot down the number next to IP Address.

To contact Microsoft, ask your workplace technical support for the number to call.
