Cropping reduces the size of a picture by removing vertical or horizontal edges. Cropping is often used to hide or trim a part of a picture, either for emphasis or to remove unwanted portions. To crop a SmartArt graphic, first you convert it to a picture, and then you use the cropping tool to crop the SmartArt graphic.

  1. Right-click the SmartArt graphic that you want to crop, and then click Copy.

  2. On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click the arrow under Paste, and then click Paste Special.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • Click Picture (PNG).

    • Click Picture (GIF).

    • Click Picture (JPG).

Select the picture that you pasted.

  4. Under Picture Tools, on the Format tab, in the Size group, click Crop.

    • To crop equally on two sides at once, press and hold CTRL while you drag the center cropping handle on either side inward.

      Notes:

      • To crop your picture to exact dimensions, do the following:

        1. Under Picture Tools, on the Format tab, in the Size group, click the Dialog Box Launcher.
