Creating links to files

You can create links to files in a Files or Documents tool, and place them in any rich text location. For example, you might paste a link to a file in a SharePoint Workspace message, Discussion tool entry, or Chat entry, or in a Microsoft Word document.

Note: In order to follow a link to a file in a Files or Documents tool, a user must be a member of the workspace that contains the tool.

To create a link to a file:

  1. Select the file you would like to link to.

  2. On the Home tab, click Copy as Link.

  3. Go to the rich-text location in which you would like to paste the link.

  4. Right-click and then click Paste.
