Create a business user role in Planning Business Modeler

To help control access to important business and financial data, you can create and configure business user roles in PerformancePoint Planning Business Modeler.

Important:  You must be a Data Administrator or Modeler to configure default permissions, or to configure model access for a business user role.

After you create the role, a User Administrator can add or remove users from the business user role.

To create a business user role:

  1. In the Workspace Browser pane, select Security and Roles.

  2. In the Security and Roles Tasks pane, click Create a Business Role to open the Create a Role dialog box.

  3. In the Create a Role dialog box, type a Name, a Label , and (if you want) a Description for the business role. For more information about restrictions for names and labels, see About names and labels.

  4. Under Default permissions, move the slider to select the permissions for the role. The default permission level that you configure applies to all current and future member sets in the model site. This includes any member sets that are added in the future.

This permission will be granted automatically to any new user in the role.

    Options for default permissions

    • No access. Planning Business Modeler configures the default permission for a role to No access by default. This access level ensures that users who are assigned to the role cannot access any member set in the model site.

    • Read-only access. Users who are assigned to this role have Read-only access to all member sets in the model site. Users who are assigned to this role do not have Write access to any member set in the model site.

    • Read and Write access. Recommended only for evaluation environments. Users who are assigned to this role have Read-and-Write access to all member sets in the model site.

  5. Click OK to open the Summary page for the role. This page displays the security settings for the new role, and displays a list of models in the model site.

  6. In the Models section of the Summary page, locate the names of the models that you want the role to access.

  7. Click the field in the Access column next to the name of the model that you want the role to access, and then select On from the drop-down list.

  8. When you finishing configuring model access for the role, click Save model site from the View menu to save the role on Planning Server.
