Change the color of a shape, shape border, or entire SmartArt graphic

You can use colors to enhance the message in your SmartArt graphic. Change the color or border of an individual shape to highlight that step in the process, or add a new color scheme to an entire SmartArt graphic.

Do any of the following:

Change the color of a shape

  1. Select the shape in the SmartArt graphic that you want to change.

  2. On the Format tab, under Shape Styles, click the arrow next to Fill, and then either click the color that you want, or mix your own color by clicking More Colors.

Change the color of a border

  1. Select the shape in the SmartArt graphic that you want to change.

  2. On the Format tab, under Shape Styles, click the arrow next to Line, and then either click the color that you want, or mix your own color by clicking More Colors.

Change the color of an entire SmartArt graphic

  1. Select the SmartArt graphic that you want to change.

  2. On the SmartArt tab, under SmartArt Graphic Styles, click Colors, and then click the new color scheme that you want to use.
