The Microsoft® Office Backstage™ is the place where you do most SharePoint Workspace administrative tasks, such as setting preferences for your account and identity, managing alerts and connection settings, creating new workspaces, saving workspaces and tools as archives or templates, and downloading workspace data from other computers.

To go to the Backstage view, click the File tab in either the Workspace Explorer or the Launchbar.

The tables in this topic summarize the tasks available on the different tabs of the Backstage view. In addition to the tasks described on each tab, you can click Close to close the current SharePoint Workspace window, or Exit to exit SharePoint Workspace.

Set alerts...

Click Manage Alerts and then click Set Alerts.

Suppress alerts...

Click Manage Alerts and then click Suppress Alerts.

Open Communications Manager.

Click Change Online Connection Settings and then click Communications Manager.

Set SharePoint Workspace to work offline...

Click Change Online Connection Settings and then click Work Offline.

Open Account Preferences...

Click Manage Account and then click Account Preferences.

Enter an Account Configuration Code and Server Information...

Click Manage Account and then click Configure Account.

Log off an account or all accounts...

Click Manage Account and then click a "Log Off" option.

Open the Message History...

Click Messages and Contacts, and then click Message History.

Open the Contact Manager...

Click Messages and Contacts, and then click Contact Manager.

Create a new workspace...

Click an option from the list of workspace types.

Print the selected item in a workspace...

Click Print.

Do the following

Save your account as a backup or to use on another computer...

Click Send Account to Another Computer, and then click the Browse... button.

Save an invitation to the selected workspace as a file...

Click Invitation.

Place a shortcut to the selected workspace on the Desktop...

Click Shortcut.

Create an archive copy of the selected workspace...

Click Workspace as Archive.

Save the collection of tools in the selected workspace as a template to be used as the basis for new workspaces...

Click Workspace as Template.

Save the design of the selected tool as a template to be added as a new tool in other workspaces...

Click Tool as Template.
