Add shapes in PowerPoint 2016 for Mac

You can add shapes, such as squares, circles, and arrows, to your presentation in PowerPoint 2016 for Mac. After you add one or more shapes, you can add text, bullets, numbering, and font and paragraph styles. You can also change the shape's fill or outline.

Insert a shape

  1. On the Insert tab, click Shapes, and then select a shape.

  2. Click anywhere on your slide, and then drag to place or resize the shape.

    Tip: To create a perfect square or circle (or constrain the dimensions of other shapes), press and hold Shift while you drag.

Add text to a shape

  1. Click a shape, and then type your text.

  2. To format your text, Ctrl+click or right-click the shape, click Edit Text, and then apply formatting (such as font style, size, or color, or numbering and alignment) from the Font or Paragraph groups on the Home tab.

    Note: The text that you add becomes part of the shape—if you rotate or flip the shape, the text rotates or flips also.

Change the fill or outline of a shape

  1. Click a shape, and then click the Shape Format tab.

    To change multiple shapes, press Command while you click the shapes that you want to change.

  2. On the Shape Format tab, in the Shape Styles group, click the arrow next to Shape Fill or Shape Outline, and then select the options you want.

Change from one shape to another shape

  1. Click the shape you want to change.

    To change multiple shapes, press Command while you click the shapes that you want to change.

  2. On the Shape Format tab, in the Insert Shapes group, click Edit Shape [図形の編集] アイコン , point to Change Shape, and then click the new shape that you want.
