Add a shape

You can quickly add a single shape or multiple shapes to a publication by using the Objects toolbar.

Add a single shape

  1. Do one of the following:

    • To add a predefined AutoShape, such as a star or a diamond, click AutoShapes Button image on the Objects toolbar, point to a category, and then click the shape that you want.

    • To add a circle or a square, click Oval Button image or Rectangle Button image on the Objects toolbar.

  2. Click in your publication where you want the shape to appear.

  3. After you add the shape to your publication, click the shape and drag an Adjust handle until you have the size that you want.

Add multiple shapes

  1. Do one of the following:

    • To add a predefined AutoShape, such as a star or a diamond, click AutoShapes Button image on the Objects toolbar, point to a category, point to the dotted line at the top of the category toolbar Undock button , and then drag the toolbar to the workspace. Double-click the AutoShape that you want to insert multiple times, and then click the publication in every location where you want to insert the shape.

    • To add multiple ovals or rectangles, double-click Oval Button image or Rectangle Button image on the Objects toolbar, and then click the publication in every location where you want to insert the shape.

  2. When you want to stop adding shapes, click a different button on the Objects toolbar — for example, click Select Objects Pointer button .

Note: 

  • After you undock a category toolbar, for example, the Basic Shapes toolbar, you still access other AutoShape categories, such as Lines and Connectors, by clicking AutoShapes Button image on the Objects toolbar.

  • When you no longer need to use an undocked AutoShape category, click Close.

  • When you click More AutoShapes, the the Clip Art task pane opens.
