Add a colored border to a picture in Word 2016 for Mac

Adding a colored border or border style to a picture can help it stand out and give your document a more polished look. There are many predefined borders to choose from, and you can make them any color you want.

  1. Click the picture in your document. This opens the Picture Format tab along the top of the screen. If the Picture Format tab doesn’t open, just click it.

  2. In the Picture Styles group, click the right and left arrows to browse through the border options.

    On the Picture Format tab, the picture border gallery is highlighted.

    If you hover over each picture style, tooltips provide a brief description of each style.

  3. Once you find a border you like, click it.

  4. To change the color of the border to something else, click Picture Border, and then pick the color you want.
