Why can't I save the enterprise global template as an MPP file?

In Microsoft Office Project 2007, you can no longer save the enterprise global template as a separate Microsoft Project Plan (MPP) file. Instead, Microsoft Office Project Web Access provides extensive backup and restore functionality.

To simply transfer the settings from the enterprise global template to another server, create a new project that uses the enterprise global template, and then save that file locally, selecting the option to save all enterprise custom fields and global items. Then open the saved MPP file on the other server and use the Organizer to copy the elements to the enterprise global template on that server.
