Import downloaded stencils

If you can’t find the shapes you need in the stencils installed with Visio, try searching for stencils online that you can download.

I want to use geographic map shapes in our regional promotion plans.

So I’ll type a keyword in Search shapes and select Start search.

I don’t see any shapes available in Visio that will work.

So I’ll select Online to check out the shapes that are available there.

When I find one that looks relevant, I’ll select it to see if it has all the shapes I’ll need.

If it contains the shapes I want, I select Download and then select Open to return to the list of stencils where the new map shapes are available.

Now I can drag the new shapes onto my diagram.

If I want to use these map shapes in the future, I can find them by selecting More Shapes and looking in My Shapes.

Here’s the stencil I downloaded and here are the map shapes, ready to use in another diagram.
