Using Word Prediction for inclusive classrooms

Word prediction uses text suggestions to assist with inclusive Word prediction software is used in conjunction with a word processing program. As students enter in the first letter or letters of the words, the program predicts the word that the student is trying to type. Words appear in a prediction list and students select their desired word from this list.

To enable Word Prediction:

  1. From the Windows icon, select Settings.

  2. From the Settings window, select Devices.

  3. Select Typing from the left navigation pane.

  4. To enable, toggle the following to On:

    1. Show text suggestions as I type on the Software keyboard

    2. Show text suggestions as I type for the Hardware keyboard

    3. (optional) Show text predictions based on the recognized languages you’re typing in

  5. After the settings have been updated, you’ll be able to see a list of options appear in compatible applications.
