Last Updated: November 14, 2017

ISSUE

You receive an error when saving a workbook after inserting a chart in an existing workbook (previously saved) or copying values from an existing workbook.

Errors were detected while saving <workbook name>. Microsoft Excel may be able to save the file by removing or repairing some features. To make repairs in a new file, click Continue. To cancel saving the file, click Cancel.

If you click Continue, you get the following error:

Excel encountered errors during save. However, Excel was able to minimally save your file to <file name>.

This impacts Version 1707 (8326.2086) and later, and also only occurs with files that are stored locally, such as on the desktop. Theis problem does not occur if you manually enter values or insert a chart in a newly created workbook.

STATUS: FIXED

This issue is fixed in Version 1708 (8431.2109). To get the latest update immediately, open Excel and choose File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.
