Logging is a diagnostic tool that is primarily used by support professionals to help troubleshoot issues.

When you turn on logging, Lync creates log files and stores them in /Users/ username/Library/Logs. If you are experiencing issues with your instant messaging service, you can turn on logging and send the report to your support professional for diagnosis.

Important: Turn off logging after troubleshooting is completed. If you do not turn off logging, the log files continue to increase in size.

  1. On the Lync menu, click Preferences, and then click General  Lync Preferences, General icon.

  2. Under Logging, select the Turn on logging for troubleshooting check box.

Note: You must close and then reopen Lync to start creating log files.
