Microsoft Lync 2010 Attendee communications software detects your phone and any other compatible communication devices that you are using, such as a headset, microphone, and speakers.

What do you want to do?

View Audio Device options

To view your Audio Device options, do one of the following.

  • Before joining a meeting, click Start, click All Programs, click Microsoft Lync 2010 Attendee, and then click Audio Device.

  • When you are in a meeting, click the Options button at any time, and then click Audio Device.

Select your audio device

To select your audio device, in Audio Device options, do the following.

  • If you have multiple audio devices, in the Audio Device drop-down list, select the device that you want to use.

Set the volume level of your speakers

To set the volume level of your speakers, in Audio Device options, under Customize your device, do the following:

  • Under the Speaker drop-down list, drag the slider, and then click the green arrow button to hear a sample tone.

Set the volume level of your microphone

To set the volume level of your microphone, in Audio Device options, under Customize your device, do the following:

  • Under the Microphone drop-down list, drag the slider, and speak. Ideally the status bar should fill to the middle portion of the test area.

    • If you have a handset, pick up the receiver and speak into it.

    • If you have a desk phone, pick up the handset and speak into it.

    • If you have a headset, speak into the microphone.

    • If you are using your computer, speak at it from your normal position while keying.

Set the volume of your phone ringer

To set the volume of the ringer, in Audio Device options, under Customize your device, do the following:

  • Next to Ringer, drag the slider, and then click the green arrow button to hear a sample ring. Click OK when you’re satisfied with the volume.
