Plan members: manage group emails for your Planner plans

In Microsoft Planner, you can choose to have an email sent to you when:

  • Someone assigns you a task: One email will be sent for each task assigned. The email notification will include a link to the task in Planner.

  • You have tasks that are late or near their due date: You will receive a notification once a day for every day that you have any of the following:

    • Tasks due in the last 7 days

    • Tasks due today

    • Tasks due in the next 7 days

These emails will be sent any day of the week, including weekends, and will not include tasks that are completed or tasks that were due more than 7 days ago, even if you haven't marked them complete.

Turn email notifications off or on

Email notifications for task assignment and tasks due are automatically turned on.

To turn email notifications off

  1. Select the settings button Settings icon near the top right of the screen and then choose Notifications.

  2. In the Notifications dialog box, you have the following options:

    Planner notifications settings box

    • Someone assigns a task to you

    • A task assigned to me is late, due today, or due in the next 7 days

  3. Choose Save.

Follow or unfollow a plan in your inbox

When you are added to a plan, you may receive group email messages when task comments are posted in the plan. Use these instructions to follow or unfollow a plan's group emails in your inbox. Turning this off in Plan settings will stop sending email to your inbox when tasks comments are posted and when tasks are assigned or completed.

Note: Unfollowing a plan means you will not receive any group emails for the plan's group in your inbox. ´╗┐

  1. Select the 3 dots (. . .) to the right of the plan name, and then select Plan settings.

  2. Check or uncheck Follow this plan's group in your inbox.
