Many users find that using an external keyboard with keyboard shortcuts for Project Online helps them work more efficiently. For users with mobility or vision disabilities, keyboard shortcuts can be easier than using the touchscreen and are an essential alternative to using a mouse. This article itemizes the keyboard shortcuts for Project Online.

Notes: 

  • The shortcuts in this topic refer to the US keyboard layout. Keys for other layouts might not correspond exactly to the keys on a US keyboard.

  • Commands that require you to press and release multiple keys together are indicated with a plus sign (+). Commands that require you to press multiple keys in order are indicated by a comma sign (,).

Navigate in Project Online with only the keyboard

The following table lists keyboard shortcuts for moving in Project Online:

To do this

Move the selection between the links on the top link bar.

Alt+J

Move the selection from one Web Part to the next Web Part on pages that use multiple Web Parts.

Use grid controls

Project Online, the Web client of Microsoft Project Server 2019, uses AJAX and HTML grid controls to display various pieces of information. Some of the pages in Project Web App use an HTML table-based grid for viewing and editing information. For example, the Tasks page uses an HTML table-based grid. In HTML grids, you can use the following keyboard shortcuts:

Move to the previous cell or row.

Left arrow key or Shift+Tab

Move up.

Go to the URL in the selected cell.

When there are two grids on a page, you can use F6 to move the focus from one grid cell to the corresponding row on the other grid. When you have a source grid and target grid, you can use the following keyboard shortcuts:
