The Hyperlink Href field contains the combination, or concatenation, of the Hyperlink Address and Hyperlink SubAddress fields associated with a task, resource, or assignment. You can click the name in the Hyperlink Href field to go to that Web site on an intranet or the World Wide Web.

There are several categories of Hyperlink Href fields.

Data Type    Text

Hyperlink Href (task field)

Entry Type    Entered

Best Uses    Add the Hyperlink Href field to a task view when you want to display or go to the addresses and subaddresses associated with tasks.

Example    Many tasks in your project are assigned to outside consulting companies and service bureaus that have Web sites. You add the Hyperlink Href field to the Task Sheet view to see the addresses and subaddresses (for example, "http://www.microsoft.com/assignments.xls/ B1:G12") for these outside companies. This subaddress goes to the Web site, then to the MSExcel12 file residing on the Web site, then to the cells B1 through G12.

Remarks    If you want to edit a hyperlink, don't click the link in the Hyperlink or Hyperlink Address field. Clicking either field starts your Web browser and goes to the referenced hyperlink. Instead, use the arrow keys to highlight the cell. Then, click the entry bar above the view to edit the hyperlink.

You can also insert a hyperlink, along with a specific file location, in your project file by completing the Insert Hyperlink dialog box.
