A #CONNECT error occurs when a formula can’t connect to a required resource. See the following:

General

  • The path is incorrect, or the file was deleted or moved.

  • You don't have permission to access the file.

  • The linked workbook couldn't be read and may be corrupt.

Can't access a required service because there is a problem connecting to the internet. Check the internet connection on your device and try again. For more information, see Fix network connection issues in Windows 10.

Workbook links

The server is not responding and may be undergoing maintenance. Please try again later.

You have exceeded the request limit. Try again later.

Refreshing of locally saved workbooks are not supported in Excel for Web. To refresh these workbook links, open the the workbook in Excel Desktop or Excel Mac on the device with the linked workbook.  

The workbook cannot be read and may be corrupt.

The linked workbook couldn't be accessed. This file may have been moved or you may no longer have permission to access it.

A required service is not responding or may be undergoing maintenance. 

The linked workbook is on another internet domain and can't be refreshed. A domain has a unique URL address that points to services, web sites, data centers, or personal computers.

The linked workbook couldn't be read because you're not logged in.

This workbook has exceeded the limit for linked workbooks.

The workbook you are referencing exceeds the maximum supported workbook size.

Can't access resources required for an image.

Unable to retrieve the image. Try again later.
