If you're just getting started, you can find information here about setting up and configuring Microsoft Teams.
Microsoft Teams is a messaging app for teams where all conversations, meetings, files, and notes can be accessed by everyone, all in one place. It's a place for collaboration and work to happen in the open.
Here's why you should use it:

Everything your team cares about (all your files, docs, contact info, and more) is in one place.
You can access the Teams web app at https://teams.microsoft.com. Right now, Teams works with Internet Explorer 11, Microsoft Edge, the latest version of Chrome, and the latest version of Firefox.
To use Teams, you need an Office 365 account with a Business or Enterprise Office 365 license plan. For more information, see How do I get access to Microsoft Teams?

To see or change your Teams settings, click your profile picture on the left side of the app. You can change your picture, set your status, themes, app settings, notifications, language, keyboard shortcuts, and more. There’s even a link to download the mobile app.
To update your time zone, date, or language, click your profile picture in the bottom left corner, then select Settings > General.
Selecting your preferred language and region also updates your date and time zone.
Click your profile picture at the top of the app, then select Settings > General. In the Theme section, click High contrast. You can also select the Dark or Default theme.
Teams is set to automatically open up and run in the background as soon as you start your device. If you close out of the app, it keeps running in the background.
You can change these settings anytime by clicking your profile picture in the bottom left corner, then selecting Settings > General. From the Application section, you can disable auto-start. You can also change your settings so the app won't run in the background or keep running after you close your window.
If you've signed in to Teams using modern authentication, you won't be able to switch accounts. So signing out of the app won't clear your sign-in credentials.
If someone is currently available on Teams, you'll see a green circle and a check mark next to their profile picture.
To see who, out of everyone on a team, is online right now, click More options next to the team name. Then select Manage team and click the Members tab. Everyone who's online right now will have the green circle and check mark next to their name.
Want to invite other people in your organization to use Teams? Just send someone in your organization a message from the app or add them to a team. They'll automatically get an email invite and a notification.
You can't currently import contacts. All your contacts in Teams are part of your organization.
If you're trying to join a specific team within your organization, click Add a team at the bottom of your teams list. Head to the search box in your teams gallery and start typing the name of the team you want to find. Press Enter, and your teams gallery will show you a collection of teams that match your search. Find the team you're looking for and click Join team.
Channels allow teammates to have focused conversations about specific topics. Every team has its own set of channels (starting with the General channel), and the members of that team get to decide what they want the rest of their channels to focus on. Some channels are devoted to specific projects, some are for areas of interest. Some channels are just for fun. Every channel belonging to a team is completely public to all the team members, so everyone can feel free to join in a channel conversation.
If you spot a channel that looks interesting or is relevant to you, you can favorite or follow it.
Just type @ before someone's name to get their attention in a conversation.
You can also type @team to message everyone on that team. FYI, this feature needs to be enabled, and it's definitely most effective when used sparingly.
Note: You can't @mention someone in a private chat.
To send a private message, first click New chat next to your search bar to start a new conversation. Type the name of the person or people you want to chat with. Then, compose your message and press Enter.
To loop someone into a private conversation, just click Add people in the top right corner of your screen. Then, type the name of the person you'd like to add and press Enter.
From that point on, you'll have your own group chat. To start a group chat from scratch, just add the names of everyone you want to talk to in the To field for a new chat.
What's the difference between chatting with other Microsoft Teams users and chatting with Skype for Business users?
Being able to chat with someone on Skype for Business from within Microsoft Teams is pretty cool, but you’ll be missing out on fun things like emoji, file attachments, and tabs. Also, your conversation history won't be saved, so if you update, refresh, or open up Teams on a different platform (like mobile), you won't be able to view your old messages.
To send someone an email from Teams, hover over their profile picture until their profile card appears. Click the envelope icon at the bottom left of the card to send an email.
If you haven’t already chosen an email app to use with Teams, you’ll see a prompt asking you to choose one.

The Activity feed is a great place to keep track of all your important news, including your recent likes, @mentions, replies, and more. The first thing you'll see in Activity is your regular feed, which shows you all the activity that's directly relevant to you (like if someone replied to your post in a channel, liked one of your messages, or mentioned you).
You can filter your feed based on what kind of notification you want to see (like @mentions or replies). Click Filter to select the kind of notification you'd like to see first.
If you want, you can choose to view more specific feeds. Head up to the menu at the top of your feed to select either My activity or Team activity.
My activity shows you a list of everything you've been up to lately in Teams, like if you replied to a conversation, @mentioned someone (including @team and @channel mentions), and more.
Team activity is the place to go if you want to get an idea of what's been happening in your favorite channels. It shows you a list of everything that's been happening beyond what directly affects you, like if several people are participating in a conversation in one of your favorite channels.
Click Files to see all your important files, which are sorted into the following categories:
The Recent view shows you every Office 365 document you’ve viewed or edited in recent history.
The Microsoft Teams view shows you all the documents that have been created or edited recently within your favorite channels.
In the Downloads view, you'll see a list of all the files you've downloaded to Teams.
The Cloud storage section shows all the different cloud storage services you've connected to Teams. Click one to see your cloud files.
Your desktop app automatically updates (so you don’t have to). If you want, you can still check for available updates by clicking your profile picture on the left side of the app and then selecting Check for updates.
Your web app is always up to date. It’s just good like that.

To sign out of Teams, click your profile picture in the bottom left corner. You can also right-click the app icon in your taskbar.
Mac users, head to the app menu bar at the top of your screen and click Microsoft Teams > Quit Microsoft Teams. You can also press Cmd+Q to quit.
For all operating systems, once you sign out of Teams, you'll need to re-enter your credentials then next time you launch the app.
