Edit a shared OneDrive file from another organization

Edit a shared OneDrive file from another organization

If someone from another organization has shared a OneDrive file with you, you’ll need a Microsoft account to edit the file. Don’t have an account? No problem – we’ll show you how to sign up.

I have a Microsoft account

Tip: Not sure if you have a Microsoft account? If you have a Hotmail or Outlook.com email address, or you’ve used Microsoft services like Xbox or Skype, you’re good to go. Just sign in using the same email address and password you use for those services.

To edit the shared file, sign in with the email address and password that you use with your Microsoft account:

  1. In a browser, open the email that contains the link to the shared file.

  2. Select the name of the file that you want to open.
