Creating a new Excel file from a template opens the file twice

Last Updated: November 7, 2017

When you double-click or choose the "new" option on a template file (.xlt, .xltx, .xltm) in Excel 2016, Excel opens two identical copies of the file.

We are aware of this issue and working on a fix. In the meantime, please close the duplicate copy of the file that was created, leaving only a single copy open.
