When you type an equation and a delimiting character—such as a space—in a math region, Word automatically converts it into a professionally formatted equation. The following procedure explains how to convert a professionally formatted equation into an equation that is all on one line.

For information about writing equations, see Write, insert, or change an equation.

Convert an equation format

  1. Select the equation.

  2. On the Design tab that is under Equation Tools, in the Tools group, click Linear.
