There’s no way to delete conversations just yet, but we’re working on it. To delete an individual message on iOS and Android, press and hold on the message and select the delete option.

There’s no way to remove someone from a conversation or group chat once they’re in it, but you can always start a new conversation with a different group of people.

If you want to chat one-on-one with someone who's using Skype for Business, you can now do that from the mobile app.

You can't have a group chat with people who are using Skype for Business just yet. We're working on it.

Chatting with someone on Skype for Business from within Microsoft Teams is pretty cool, but you’ll be missing out on fun things like emoji, file attachments, and tabs. Also, your conversation history won't be saved, so if you update, refresh, or open up Microsoft Teams on a different platform, you won't be able to view your old messages.

You can't totally shut down the integration with Skype for Business, but if you want, you can disable the chat option. On your desktop or web app, click your profile picture on the left side of the app and select Notifications, and then choose to disable Chat with Skype for Business. You'll still see all your Skype for Business meetings, you just won't be able to chat with people who are using Skype for Business.

You can delete individual messages, but you can’t entirely turn off your chat history.

There's good and bad news: You can view messages that have been generated using Markdown from your mobile device, but you can't create Markdown-formatted messages. So, if you want to use Markdown to strike through text or even create lists and blocks of code, head over to the web or desktop app.

On iOS and Android, you can always open the text editor in the compose box to format and highlight text.

For more information, see these desktop articles: Does Microsoft Teams support Markdown? and What are all the available Markdown actions on Microsoft Teams?.

Right now, Microsoft Teams doesn’t let you message yourself. You can only send messages to others.

In channels, everyone on the team can see your messages (because we're all about working in the open).

In private and group chats, only the people in the chat can see your messages.

To return a message in a channel to its unread, bolded state, tap More options More options button (Android) or Select to see more options (iOS) and select Mark as unread. For chat messages, press and hold on the message and select Mark as unread.

If you want to get in touch with everyone on your team, the best thing to do is post a message in the team's General channel.

You could mention the entire team by typing @team. This will notify everyone on your team that they have an @mention in that channel, even if they're not following it.

FYI, this only works if @team mentions have been enabled for your team, and it's definitely most effective when used sparingly.

Use chat threads

Threads are a great way to keep track of multiple conversations in a single channel. To respond to a thread, tap the reply icon below the last post. This will ensure that your response stays within the thread. For more info, see the What is threading? desktop article.

To reply to a thread, tap Reply Reply button that appears after the last post. This will keep your reply inside the thread containing the conversation.

Tap in the compose box at the bottom of the screen if you want to break off and start a conversation about a new topic.

If you started a new conversation instead of replying to a thread, the best thing to do is just delete your standalone message and reply to the thread (as if nothing happened).

Right now you can’t get turn off threading on mobile, but we're working on it.
