Word added an extra line after a page break when I saved my document in a previous file format

There is an extra line at the top of each page that follows a manual page break.

When you save a Microsoft Office Word 2007 document in a previous file format, a paragraph marker is added to the next line after a manual page break. This results in an extra line after each manual page break.
