Visio Online Public Preview is a new way to view and share Visio diagrams on the web. You first upload a .vsdx file to the cloud on either OneDrive for Business or SharePoint Online. How do I get started using Visio Online Public Preview?

You can upload a .vsdx file to either OneDrive for Business or to a library on SharePoint Online. Then, when you click the name of the file, it will open in a new browser tab. Don't forget you can share your diagram with others, even if they don't have the Visio desktop application.

Is Visio Online Public Preview available for my Office 365 subscription?

Visio Online Public Preview is currently available to the following Office 365 commercial subscriptions:

  • Office 365 Business Essentials

  • Office 365 Business Premium

  • Office 365 Enterprise E1

  • Office 365 Government E1

  • Office 365 Enterprise K1

  • Office 365 Government K1

  • OneDrive for Business Plan 1

What if I’m using Visio Web Access?

If you’re using Visio Web Access, we recommend you migrate to Visio Online Public Preview by becoming part of Office 365 First Release.

If I’m an IT administrator, how do I get my users ready for Visio Online Public Preview?

You will receive a post on the Office Message Center when your users can automatically start using Visio Online Public Preview.

Can I edit diagrams in the web browser?

No, Visio Online Public Preview does not currently allow you to edit diagrams. But, you can edit diagrams in the Visio 2013 or Visio 2016 desktop applications. With the file open in the browser, click Open Diagram > Edit in Visio.

Make your changes in the desktop application, and then save. Once you save, the file is updated online and other people will see your changes.
