Adjust row and column size in tables when you need to fit text, make all rows or columns a uniform size, or simply make the table look how you want.
Change column and row width
To change the width, do one of the following:
Select the boundary of the column or row you want to move and drag it to the width or height you want.
Select the rows or columns and then select Layout and choose your height and width.
Select View > Ruler checkbox, select the cell you want, and then drag the markers on the ruler.
Note: In Excel, select Home > Format, and then select Column Width.
Change column and row height
To change the height, do one of the following:
To make all rows in the table the same height, select Layout > Distribute Rows.
To make all the columns in the table the same height, select Layout > Distribute Columns.
Note: In Excel, select Home > Format, and then select Row Height.
Adjust cells to fit the text with AutoFit
To adjust a column, select it, and then select Layout > AutoFit > AutoFit Contents.
To adjust a table, select it, and then select Layout > AutoFit > AutoFit Contents.
To change the width of columns or the height or rows in a table…
Select the boundary of the column or the row you want to move, and drag it to width or height you want.
If you want a specific height or width, select the rows or columns, go to Layout, and choose your height and width.
You can also use the Ruler.
To turn it on, go to View and select the Ruler checkbox.
Then select a cell in the table and drag the markers on the ruler where you want.
To make rows the same height, select the rows,
and then select Distribute Rows.
Do the same with columns.
Use AutoFit to make the cells adjust to fit the text.
Select the column, and then select AutoFit and AutoFit Contents.
To adjust an entire table, select it, select AutoFit, and then select AutoFit Contents.
