In Chat, you can have private one-on-one or group conversations that are not in the public team channel.

Create a new chat

  1. Select Select to start a new chat. to the right of Search box.

  2. Enter the names of the team members you want to chat with. You can add up to nine people in a group chat.

Share files on a chat

  1. Select Select to attach a file. in the Type a new message box.

  2. Select a file. You can add files from your computer or from your OneDrive for Business account.

See your chat thread or shared chat files

  1. Select Chat, then select a person, persons, or bot under Favorites or Recent.

  2. Select Conversation to see your chat conversation thread. Select Files to see files shared during the chat.

Turn a conversation into a call

  1. Select Select to start an audio call. or Select to start a video call. to turn the chat into an audio call or video call.

Getting the best messaging experience

Open team channels are great for collaboration,  but sometimes you need to talk privately.

You can do that here. In Chat, you can have private conversations and calling. 

Here you'll see a list of all your recent conversations along with chats that you've chosen to favorite. 

Creating a new chat is easy. Simply click the new chat icon and type the names of the people you want to add to a conversation. You can add up to nine people in a group chat. 

And because we're all about working together, sharing documents and files with your teammates is fast. You can add files from your computer or OneDrive for Business account. 

Speaking of files, you can click back into a chat at any time and see everything you ever shared. In the Files tab, you can see a list of all the files shared in the conversation so you never lose track of important documents. 

And because we're all about teamwork, we've made calling easier than ever. With one click, you can start a call, and meet face-to-face. Let's get to work!
