Use Format Painter to quickly copy and apply formatting to text, shapes, and pictures.

Copy and apply formatting

  1. Select the text, shape, cells, or picture that has the format you want to copy.

  2. Select Format Painter Format Painter .

    • Single-click Format Painter Format Painter to apply the formatting once.

    • Double-click Format Painter Format Painter to apply the formatting more than once.

  3. Select what you want to apply the formatting to.

Use Format Painter to quickly copy and apply formatting to text, shapes, and pictures.

Just select the text format you want, select Format Painter, and select the text you want to apply it to.

You can do the same thing to format shapes.

In Excel, you can select a number of cells and select Format Painter to copy and apply the same formatting to another set of cells.

You can use Format Painter to give the same look to all of the images on your slide.

Just select the formatting you want, double-click Format Painter to apply the format more than once, and select each object you want to apply that format to.

When you’re done, press Esc to turn off Format Painter.
