Change document properties

When you create an Office file, you can add properties to help you search, sort, and filter files in File Explorer.

Add a property

  1. Select File > Info.

  2. Select a property that starts with Add, like Add a title, Add a tag, or Add an author.

  3. Enter the information.

  4. To see more properties, select Show all properties.

  5. When you're done, select the Back arrow and Save [Untitled] your changes.

When you create an Office file, you can add properties or metadata to help you search, sort, and filter files in File Explorer.

To add properties, select File > Info.

Some properties, like Size, Pages, Words, and dates are updated automatically and can't be changed.

However, there are properties that you can Add.

For example, Add a tag to categorize a file.

Or Add an author. You can add as many authors as you need.

To see more, select Show All Properties.

When you’re done, select the Back arrow and Save your changes.
