Troubleshoot communication history items in Business Contact Manager

I can't edit some communication history items

Some communication history item cannot be edited. This includes e-mail messages, past appointments, tasks with due dates that have already occurred, and files that are read-only.

Why do some communication history items appear more than once in the Communication History folder?

A communication history item appears more than once in the Communication History folder when it is linked to multiple records. For example, a message linked to an Account record and two Business Contact record is listed three times in the Communication History folder.

If you unlink a communication history item from a record, Business Contact Manager for Outlook removes only the corresponding link from the Communication History folder.

The appearance of a communication history item has changed

The original communication history item has been deleted from Business Contact Manager for Outlook, so what you are viewing is information about the item that is stored in the Business Contact Manager database and is displayed in a Business Activity form. If the deletion was an error, you can restore the item from the Deleted Items folder.

Note: If the database owner has emptied the Deleted Items folder, you cannot restore the business note or phone log.

I removed the link for a communication history item from a record and now I can't find the original item

If you remove the link for a Calendar item or an e-mail message from the Communication history section of a record, the file still exists in its original location. On the Tools menu, point to Instant Search, and then click a search option.

If you remove the link for a business note or a phone log from the Communication history section of a record, and it is not linked to any other record, the item is moved to the Deleted Items folder for Business Contact Manager for Outlook. To restore the item, move it from the Deleted Items folder to your Communications History folder. After you have moved the item, it will automatically appear in the record to which it was originally linked.

Note: If the database owner has emptied the Deleted Items folder, you cannot restore the business note or phone log.

If you remove the link for files other than business notes or phone logs from the Communication History view of a record, the file still exists in its original location on your hard disk or network, so you can re-create the link.
