When accessing the File > Options > Proofing > When correcting spelling and grammar in Word > Writing Style menu option in Word 2016, Grammar & Style is missing. (The Grammar option still exists, which you can use to flag misused words, punctuation issues, capitalization issues, and other errors that result in ungrammatical sentences.)
The original style-checking options were removed from Office 2016 due to low usage. However, we’ve recently announced the impending release of Editor, a new Office 365 feature that offers advanced proofing and editing services, including improved tools for finding and fixing style and writing issues.
If you have Version 1609 (Build 7369.2024) or later installed, you can specify style-checking rules today using a new Grammar & more option in Word and Outlook. The full set of proofing features will be available soon to Office 365 subscribers as part of the broader Editor release.
Note: To use Grammar & more, your proofing language must be set to English. Support will be added for more proofing languages in the upcoming months.
