The KPI calculation setting determines how PerformancePoint Monitoring Server calculates KPI scores, and how it creates KPI summary values such as aggregations and roll-ups. You specify the KPI calculation settings in PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer by using the Editor tab in the KPI workspace.
Monitoring Server uses the calculation setting in combination with the position of a KPI in the scorecard hierarchy to determine the role that a KPI plays in the scorecard. KPI roles vary by KPI classification:
Leaf-level KPI Reflects a single performance measure. A leaf-level KPI score compares actual performance for the single measure to its target value.
Non-leaf KPI Heads a group of closely related measures. A non-leaf KPI score aggregates the values of the leaf-level KPIs in the group.
Objective KPI States an overall performance goal. An objective KPI score rolls up related KPI scores into a single summary indicator.
Note: Calculation settings are one of several KPI configuration options that are available in the KPI workspace on the Editor tab and the Properties tab. To learn more about all KPI configuration options, see the KPI configuration overview
