Share Office 365 with your household

Share your Office 365 Home subscription

With Office 365 Home, you can share your subscription with up to four people in your household.

To start sharing your Office 365 Home subscription:

  1. Sign in at to go to your My Office Account.

  2. Choose Share Office 365.

  3. Choose Add user.

  4. Choose from the four different ways to share your subscription:

    • Email: send an email to the person you'd like to join your subscription.

    • Share with your Microsoft Family: add members of your family to Office 365.

    • Facebook: send a message via Facebook.

    • Get a link: create a link to copy and paste into a message.

Note: See instructions for how to share using each method, send an invitation again or revoke an invitation.

After sharing your subscription:

  • You'll receive an email notification letting you know when your invitation has been accepted.

  • You can see on your My Office Account page what installs have been used.

  • You can share your subscription with another person in your household.

With my subscription to Office 365 Home, I get all my favorite Office apps, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

I can install Office on up to 5 PCs or Macs, plus 5 mobile devices.

And instead of buying more copies of Office, I can share Office 365 with up to 4 people in my household.

Each person I share with gets an extra terabyte of online storage in OneDrive, and 60 Skype minutes per month.

My wife wants to install Office on her laptop so I'm going to share my subscription with her.

On my device, I go to and sign in.

This takes me to My Office Account page where I choose Share Office 365 and then Add user.

There are four ways I can share: Email, Microsoft Family, Facebook, or by getting a Link.

I’ll send her an email invitation, so I type in her email address and click Send Invitation.

Now on her laptop, my wife gets the invitation and she chooses Accept, which takes her to the You’re invited page.

She chooses Get started and signs in with her Microsoft account.

If she doesn’t already have a Microsoft account, she can choose Create one!

After she signs in, she can Install Office, activate her Skype minutes and start using that extra OneDrive storage.

Meanwhile, I get an email telling me that my wife accepted my invitation.

I check My Office Account page and see that she’s now using one of my Office installs.

And if I need to share another install with our son, I just send him an invite so he can use Office, too.
